Conclave: What Next?

There are, as I type, less than two hours left in Round Two. It looks as if Fr.'s Healy, Hart and Leone will be dropped from the ballot. Fr.'s Antinarelli, Bonsignore and McKenna will remain. The rules for election are simple: the "winning" priest must have a two-thirds vote, plus one. If after a third round no clear winner emerges, as per this guideline, I will simply drop the lowest candidate.

I am, personally, somewhat surprised by the third candidate. I was also pleasantly surprised by Fr. Leone's very high turnout on Day 1. It looks as if, no matter what way this election goes, we will have found a decent and worthy man.

I will begin round three as soon as I can. There may be a lapse of a few hours. But look on the bright side: I'm still marginally faster than Rome.

Not even a sympathy vote for everyone's favorite Vicar General? :-)

I'll leave that to the Holy Spirit.

Curious. Do the 3 priests know of our election? If not do they know of this blog? They are all humble but I think they should be pleased.

Not that it matters but will we do anything with our results?.

Re: Anon

I am aware that a number of priests (and deacons and administrators) of the Diocese of Rochester read this blog, some quite frequently. So without getting into specifics about who, I'll say that it is certainly possible.

I was just about to vote and it occured to me Dr.K at 3:34pm tells us the DOR monitors this blog. Are we putting these 3 priest out there to be put on the DOR'S s--t list? Will they be victimnized by the DOR? I hope not. I would like someone to comment before I vote round 3. Thanks

I wasn't trying to suggest that the DoR monitors the blog. I was saying that we have a number of priest readers who enjoy the blog and are supportive (whose identities shall always remain secret). Do DoR leaders read who are not fans of CF? Possibly. I don't really know that for certain, but it's actually quite likely since Cleansing Fire turns up in the top 10 every so often when you do a Google search for "Diocese of Rochester". Then again, if they do read, they can not claim ignorance when liturgical abuses are revealed.

I'm pretty sure that the DoR already has the s--- list you describe well before this fantasy conclave.

OKAY! I'm on my way. I did not mean to color the "fantasy conclave" I did not want to put these wonderful Priest at risk.

To Bishop Clark, From His Humble Servants:

"Prince of degredations, bought and sold,
These verses, written in your crumbling sty,
Proclaim the faith that I have held and hold,
And publish that in which I mean to die."
