What? A Conclave? And We're Invited?

Yes, it's true.

I know we've had the "next bishop quiz" before, but we've never had an actual election. Who will win? Who will lose? It's up to you, the Cardinals of Cleansing Fire. Just select the priest whom you honestly think should be the next bishop. Is he loyal to the faith? Is he able? Is he liturgically inclined? What are his views on lay preaching and lay administrators?

Please vote. If you haven't seen it, go to the top of the page and look to the right. I'm very interested to see who wins this thing. Then again, I'm not entirely certain anyone would want to "win" the episcopacy of Rochester.

I'm envisioning a two man race.

Great Post. Please add Fr. James Schwartz to the list and I'll vote.

I tried to ad Fr. Schwartz, but blogger won't let me edit the quiz once people have voted. Sorry!

DR. K. I think I'm thinking what you are thinking. I tried to vote for both of them but somebody rigged this thing and you can only vote for one at a time.

So much for 'vote early and vote often'.

May a priest vote for himself in this conclave?

If you are a priest and you are reading this, then you definitely deserve to vote for yourself.

I'm really surprised at how the voting is going, pleasantly surprised and greatly entertained. I told a friend last night that this is more exciting than watching returns on election day.

The current front-runner for Bishop of Rochester is the expected candidate, but I am indeed surprised that Fr. Leone is #2. Not in a bad way either, he is a solid priest.

DR.K. Not anymore. Father B is now in second place moving Father Leone to third place. Both are wonderful Priest.

Are you thinking what I am thinking?

Honestly it would be a total surprise when the time comes to pick the next bishop for Rochester that the Vatican would pick somebody from the diocese. There would be too many factions, divisions and in-fighting. I believe the Vatican will pick an outsider who has no allegiance to anybody within the DoR. That is not to say that we don't have a few capable priest, we do.

Bishop Sheen was given permission to name his replacement (Bishop Hogan, and that turned into a disaster). I don't think Clark will be given the same permission.

My personal opinion is we haven't had a good Bishop since Bishop Kearney, but then the last 10 years of his administration, the DoR was run by Bishop Casey.

And the DoR administration today is being run by Fr. Hart. Some would even say Sr. Binsack.

Someone not of this diocese will be named bishop. Depends on the church hierarchy in 2012.

To Bishop Clark, From His Humble Servants:

"Prince of degredations, bought and sold,
These verses, written in your crumbling sty,
Proclaim the faith that I have held and hold,
And publish that in which I mean to die."
