Former Rochester priest dies

Father Enrique Rueda was an incardinated priest in the Rochester diocese. He was an extremely holy and devout priest. He would not compromise the teachings of the Church. After reading through the article, you all can pretty much figure how the DoR handled Father Rueda. I"m not privy to each and every happening, but I have the general overall picture. It wasn't good. Please pray for the repose of his soul and pray even harder for our diocese and those who administer it.

Choir,

The article to which you link seems to imply that Fr. Rueda was suspended from the priesthood following the 1982 publication of his "The Homosexual Network: Private Lives & Public Policy."

However, neither my 1977 nor my 1979 editions of the Official Catholic Directory list him as a priest.

It would seem that his suspension predates the publication of that book by at least 5 years and must therefore have been occasioned by another matter.

Another reason which may have contributed to his suspension was that he was a worker-priest (meaning he held a job at Kodak to support his family back in Cuba at the same time as serving as a diocesan priest), something the DoR did not like. Fr. Rueda began training to offer Mass in an Eastern Rite and became bi-ritual in the 1980s. He helped at St. Nicholas throughout much of the 80s until he went to S. Florida with his Kodak job.

These verses, written in your crumbling sty,
Proclaim the faith that I have held and hold,
And publish that in which I mean to die."
