Holy Family Cathedral in Tulsa, OK. --Catholic Eye Candy

The other day the Catholic wires had a story about Bishop James Slattery of Tulsa Oklahoma. He will be saying the Mass "ad orientum" at the Cathedral. This cathedral has undergone a very through restoration (not wreckovation) like our Sacred Heart Cathedral. Look what a coat of paint can do, properly apply and the right color scheme. The colors and interior design are from the Augustus Welby Pugin style.

Now THERE is a bishop who gets it.

There are bishops out there rushing ahead, trying to make the Spirit of Vatican II permanent, but this servant of God hears Pope Bendedict saying "Wait, wait! Let's slow down and remember tradition!"

Wow talk about color. I hope that it looks better in person. That doesn't look like a church it me, it looks like Disney World.

The second coming of the Lord will coincide with the return of ad orientem at Sacred Heart. Bring it on!

The Bishop's name is Edward Slattery, not James. I live in this diocese and used to attend Holy Family Cathedral until they turned a beautiful church into what now looks like a clown college. The HF Cathedral School has been struggling to stay open for decades, but somehow big dollars were spent on gold stencil
instead. Perhaps the renovation follows Tradition, but I don't think it follows the Gospels at all.

To Bishop Clark, From His Humble Servants:

"Prince of degredations, bought and sold,
These verses, written in your crumbling sty,
Proclaim the faith that I have held and hold,
And publish that in which I mean to die."
