I should like officially to name this kind of modernist thinking as "Woodstock Theology."
Anyways, when he witnessed this occurring, he said nothing, for to speak out as a young priest is quite dangerous indeed in certain places. He wrote a letter to the nun, explaining how the Scriptures aren't open to interpretation, and that the miracles of Our Lord should not be belittled for the sake of "inclusivity." She wrote back:
"You are free to have your own opinion, as am I. After all, both points are equally valid."
Reminds me of that commercial on right now, which is embedded below.

Makes one wonder if she really believes that Jesus is one with the Father, God made man. For if He was, He easily would have been able to feed the crowd gathered there. Does Sr. Mary Know-it-all believe that the raising of Lazarus was instead just a symbolic story of the importance of faith, rather than a factual recounting of a miracle performed by Jesus Christ?

She sounds like a graduate of the French Road Heresy Factory and the proud holder of an M.Rel. (Master of Relativism) degree.
The first thing I would like to see our next bishop take care of is St. Bernard. We can't have an institution that calls itself 'Catholic' teaching this liberal feel-good theology, and to award degrees to members of Spiritus Christi.
I heard the same sermon. Doesn't this "nun" know about the prinicple of non-contradiction. Two opposing statements cannot both at the same time be true.
The term "Woodstock Theology" is very appropriate to use. Sometimes my patience wears "very thin" with this bovine residue.
I remember hearing a deacon give this very same interpretation of the miracle of the multiplication of the loaves and fish in a sermon sometime back in the eighties.
Was Sr. Joan known as Sr. Mary Know-It-All before going as Sr. Kostka?

I attended an ice cream social this week end.I took a deep breath and asked a sister about homilies said by a Sister. I was told when a Sister says it, it is called spirtuality talk not homilie. I asked what is the difference, if said in a church on a Sunday and instead of Priest and she said the Sisters talk is shorter? I asked why a sister would want to give it if a Priest was present and I was told because the Bishop has given his approval. I asked with my best dumb look on my face does the Pope approve ?and I was told it does not matter. The sisters take their orders from the Bishop.. ( Sorry I could not respond.) If she follows this site I am a dead woman.
Well, to all the Sisters out there (and any layperson for that matter), enjoy the fun while it lasts. There are less than three years to go before Bishop Clark must submit his retirement to Rome. Then the fun time for these folks will most likely be over. Names could be named to the next bishop. I can't believe these people do not realize that.

Yes, this is a recurring homily at our church. I've heard it from a sister and a deacon (but fortunately, never from a priest). However, the priest certainly previews sister's homily and never puts a stop to her "interpretations."
Woodstock theology is close to dead. Over the next 5-10 years, all those hippie priests and nuns will be moving to retirement and we will finally be rid of their destructive liberalism. They have had 35 years to destroy the Catholic Church, I think they've had enough fun.
