AP Calculus - Who Would Have Guessed?

"What went wrong?"

I was talking with a nun-friend of mine the other day, and she was telling me all about her days as a teacher, wearing the full habit, teaching the children how to use ink wells and chant the Mass. In talking with her, she brought up many nuns, some living, some deceased, who really changed after the habit was removed. One such case is one dear to all of our hearts. Below, see the photo of Sr. Kostka, a mathematically-inclined teacher at St. Agnes. Her non-habited name was, and is now, Sr. Joan Sobala.

(I must thank a devoted reader for supplying the photos.)

I should just like to point out that, in the top-most photograph, Sr. Joan is given the title of "chairman" of the mathematics department. Not "chair-person" or "chair-womyn." Really, what went wrong? It's as if the habit was the only thing keeping these dear sisters in order. Let's pray that, as more gets reformed in a positive way, the habits will once again be in style.

I was just about to post a comment about that "chairman" title, until I saw it caught your eye as well. :-)

I am not entirely sympathetic to the constant harping on this site, but I do wonder when I see the beauty of a young nun in the full habit what has indeed gone wrong. The comparison between then and now is almost unbearable. As for the following entry, a more reasonable candidate than the hothouse types being promoted by others would be Fr. Robert Barron of the Archdiocese of Chicago.

Sr. Joan used to be hot. Well, 1940s hot.

I should like to spread the "fire" equally amongst all who may benefit by our prayers and His (i.e. Holy Spirit) intercession, but some just supply more concern than others.

If only the final judgment were just to be mild "harping." lol Then again, we can always pray. That's the true "good old way."

Progressivism turns holy young nuns into old manly priestesses.

Is this around the time she started getting in with the WOC crowd?

Oh dear. We'll probably never see Sr. Joan in a habit ever again.

I once asked a Sister what she did with her habit and her response was,
"oh it is probably with all the other sisters habits." We donated them to high schools and the likes for the musical nunsense"

I would think they would want to be buried in them.

To Bishop Clark, From His Humble Servants:

"Prince of degredations, bought and sold,
These verses, written in your crumbling sty,
Proclaim the faith that I have held and hold,
And publish that in which I mean to die."
