For anyone who caught Brother Wease's interview with Dr. Scott Caton, you will have noticed that a little piece of you died. No one should be made to deal with such a lewd, shallow, dull-witted individual as Wease. I mean no offense to the man, but when he refers to Dr. Caton's children as "little packages" that drive him insane, and when he professes to be a Jehovah's Witness because he let them in his house, and when he says that all priests should have the ability to have a sexual outlet with their wives, he loses his veil of innocence and charity.
Dr. Caton - you have all of our sincere admiration for dealing with such an insipid and tactless man on live radio.
Brother Wease - stick to your station's
celebrity bikini contests (do not click if you value your soul), and leave religion to those who actually take it as something serious, and not an amusement for communal jocularity.

I haven't listened to Bro. Wease in years. There always seems to be something better on the air.
None of my good friends listen to Wease. He is inconsequential. I listened to him once, and did not like anything I heard.
I tuned into brother wease a few weeks ago for about 1 minute just to remind myself why I refuse to patronize this man's show or the station that broadcasts his morning show. I have to agree that he is a rather dispicable man, but his audience is generally comprised of the 'howard stern' types. They see the value of a few chuckles trumping harm that the show does to ones soul.
Wease should go have a sexual release with an electrical socket in my opinion. The guy is a bum.

A bit harsh. I don't wish ill will on anyone, including brother sleaze, but I won't support him. A prayer will do much more than an insult.

How on earth would anyone interview with that man and expect anything else? Just seeing his smirking face on this blog disgusts me.
Poor choice for Dr. Caton - lay down with dogs and get fleas. He will have to learn how to be a lot more saavy quickly to survive as a priest in this Diocese.
Let's face it, Dr. Caton's only redeeming value for the enemies of the Church and orthodoxy is that he is married w/ children. He says he will not be made a poster boy for a married priesthood - as they realize this, true hatred will emerge as they see that this educated, respectable man converted to Catholicism and became a priest based on truth and his conviction to the truth of the Barque of Peter. Anathema.

It is my understanding, however, that Dr. Caton will still teach at Roberts Weslyn Northeastern Seminary. So he'll be a Catholic transitional deacon in a few weeks, working at Blessed Sacrament Church on the weekend and at the fundamentalist Protestant seminary.

"He is currently the professor of history at Roberts Wesleyan College and professor of history and culture at Northeastern Seminary located at Roberts Wesleyan. He will continue to teach while he serves as deacon and priest."

actually both Roberts and Wesley predate the fundamentalist movement, so I wouldn't call it a that.

Note: he is teaching history and as newman said (paraphrasing), "to be steeped in history is to cease to be protestant"
Just a couple quick notes. First, Northeastern Seminary is NOT a fundamentalist seminary, but a very ecumenical seminary and quite orthodox.
Second, please always pray for me that I use wise judgment in talking with people, etc. I knew what I was getting into in accepting a live interview with Brother Wease, and partly I did this prayerfully in order that I might, in some small way, witness about our blessed Faith to those who may never darken the door of a church. I know this sort of thing always runs the risk of the accusation of someone casting their pearls before, um, swine, but whether this is just or not as an accusation, I believed, and do believe, that it was well worth it in the long run.
Please continue to pray for me that I always ask the wisdom of the Holy Spirit in discerning what I should say and what I shouldn't say--and to whom. I am only a needy sinner who by God's grace is trying to be an effective servant for Him.
